The cover letter provides an initial impression of you and your qualifications relating to the company. It explains why you are the perfect candidate for the internship or job. Standard cover letters are broken into three main parts:
a. Lead
paragraph:
The lead paragraph provides
the who, what, when, where and why. This is a brief one or two sentence
paragraph highlighting your interest in the opportunity.
b. Qualifications
paragraph:
Emphasize your
qualifications and skills matching the internship program.
Explain why you are the perfect candidate for the job or internship. You
can highlight your interests and goals, but be brief in your descriptions.
c. Closing
paragraph:
End the letter stating why you
are the perfect candidate for the position. Also, be sure to thank the employer
for their consideration of your resume.
